The Empire State Building is proud to partner with Bank Street College of Education to offer educational experiences for students and teachers alike. Combining intellectually engaging material with curricula designed to enhance the imagination, each lesson covers a variety of subjects, as they pertain to the building's iconic significance in United States history.

Educators and parents taking students on field trips to the Empire State Building Observatory can explore these plans in subjects such as social studies, global studies and science and technology to American history and geography.

Sustainability & Energy Efficiency

ESB Renovations

As part of the more than $550 million capital improvement project, the world’s most famous office building is undergoing substantial renovations to restore and retrofit the landmark.

An extraordinary refurbishment brings together world-class architects, historians, artists and craftsmen to recreate the building's original Art Deco style while adding state-of-the-art enhancements. At the center of the renovation is the restoration of ESB's historic lobby, with its iconic celestial ceiling mural made of aluminum leaf and 23-karat gold.
